Jargon that will keep you going through the year
By Kenzie Koehle
1 INTRINSIC MOTIVATION
When someone is “intrinsically motivated,” it means they are encouraged and even willing to fulfill a certain activity due to finding interest in the activity itself. Comparatively, being “extrinsically motivated” means there’s no enjoyment tied to the activity and thus needs to be found elsewhere.1
2 DATA PROCESSING
“The converting of raw data to machine-readable form and its subsequent processing (such as storing, updating, rearranging, or printing out) by a computer.”2 The faster a computer can filter through data and necessary content, the faster the company using the technology can gather feedback and information to become a productive business.
3 GLASS CEILING
These are barriers that make it so what seems attainable at first glance becomes just out of reach for minority groups. And, despite what they may do to overcome these limitations, it never seems they have the right tools or resources to overcome what’s expected of them.
4 EFFICIENCY
While productivity focuses on how much can be made and sold, efficiency focuses on the quality of the product. Ideally, it is the perfect blend of quick work and not cutting important corners.
5 INNOVATION
Every company should be innovative in their products or ideas because it’s the driving force of what stays in business and what dies out. Depending on the type, innovation keeps things up-to-date, making big ideas expand and blow up into success stories—but in order to stay as a success story, companies might need to adjust to stay with current innovative trends.
